Madeline Mulder
special achievement in Digital Earth awardintake 4
Madeline Mulder has produced extremely rewarding cartographically oriented work for her Master’s Thesis. The target group of respondents with visual impairments is mostly overlooked in the production of map-based learning materials, and the enthusiasm that respondents showed for working with maps was extremely positive. The main aim of the diploma thesis was to create a series of tactile maps for people with visual impairments, presenting selected Sustainable Development Goal Nr. 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. The sub-goals were to implement an analysis of available teaching materials and maps for this specific target group of users and to make a set of maps and complementary materials designed for environmental education.
