Erasmus Mundus Master of Science

Copernicus Master in Digital Earth is carried out as an English language Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) programme coordinated by Paris-Lodron University Salzburg, Department of Geoinformatics, Austria together with University of South Brittany, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics Department, France and Palacký University Olomouc, Department of Geoinformatics, Czech Republic.

This EMJM is a unique role model to obtain a Master’s degree in the upcoming field of EO*GI (Earth Observation & Geoinformatics) with the focus on the European Union’s Earth Observation programme Copernicus.

Partner universities bring together innovation and excellence in competences from academic disciplines needed for translating the Copernicus and Digital Earth visions, and to translate up-to-date research into education.

Knowledge translation of research findings is key to successful teaching of application-oriented skills. Earth Observation, Geoinformatics, advanced Geovisualisation and Computer Science as domains inherit the innovative power of technology and the level of digital skills of students will be significantly enhanced.

The methodological core of EO and GI is provided by PLUS and UPOL, with the latter adding a (geovisual) communications emphasis. UBS provides a computer science angle with a data analytics and machine learning for Earth Observation focus, GeoData Science and GeoAI (AI4EO).

Currently graduates receive double degrees awarded by Paris-Lodron University Salzburg & University of South Brittany, Paris-Lodron University Salzburg & Palacký University Olomouc attesting the successful completion of the Master of Science; read more.
