Funding your Master of Science studies

Admission to the programme requires a qualification based selection process. The same procedure shall apply for self-funded (self-paying) students and Erasmus+ EMJM funded students.

There may be no single way to finance your Copernicus Master in Digital Earth studies. Therefore, check all available funding options and pick the combination that matches your needs. Either look for an international funding opportunity, search for financial support options in Austria for year 1, and explore funding for France and Czech Republic for year 2. In addition, we suggest to enquire in your home country whether or not there are scholarships or other financial support options for you.

  • One-World Scholarship Programme (students from Africa, Asia and Latin America at universities in Salzburg, partial scholarship for one semester)
  • ASEA Uninet offers scholarships, funding, and awards to affiliates of ASEA-UNINET member institutions, including to students, graduates, and researchers – please see Pakistan grants.
  • Campus France, scholarships for foreign students
  • France Excellence Europa Developed by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the “France Excellence Europa” scholarship program allows students from 26 European Union countries to obtain scholarships to study at the Master’s level in a French institution of higher education.   The deadline for submitting applications is 30 April 2025.

Currently the Czech Republic does not provide any funding opportunities for Master’s programmes.

EU Copernicus Philippines Master Scholarship – procedures: Selection by the EMJM, application & nomination by EU Copernicus Philippines Master Scholarship programme.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be working for one of the following governmental agencies: the Philippines Space Agency (PhilSA), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).

The Programme Board recommends to secure financial means for the entire duration of the study programme. It will be difficult to manage a part-time job and studies for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s during the course of two academic years at the same time!
