Funding your Master of Science studies

Admission to the programme is based on a qualification-driven selection process that applies equally to self-funded (self-paying) applicants and applicants seeking Erasmus+ EMJM funding.

Applicants are encouraged to explore the various funding options that may be available to them. Candidates seeking financial support to cover all or part of their studies should consult the list of known international or national scholarship opportunities provided below. Please read the following notification regarding the procedures.

  • First, submit your application for admission to this Erasmus Mundus Master programme.

  • Upon successful selection, you will receive an academic admission letter either as an EMJM-funded student or as a self-funded student.

  • Self-funded candidates who are selected and meet the MSc admission requirements may subsequently apply for international scholarship opportunities.

The information on “other funding opportunities” provided below is for indicative purposes only and is offered without guarantee regarding accuracy or currency. It is the candidate’s responsibility to independently investigate these opportunities. Please note that most grants do not cover the full duration of the programme and typically provide only partial funding.

Tips for Applying

Review eligibility requirements early, as most fellowships have application deadlines several months before programmes begin. Prepare a strong personal statement and obtain high-quality letters of recommendation; if available, include your EMJM admission letter. Tailor each application to align with the fellowship’s objectives, such as leadership, diversity, or research excellence. In addition to major funding programmes, consider regional and smaller foundation funding opportunities. Explore and secure e.g. financial support options in Austria for Year 1, and investigate funding opportunities in France and Czechia for Year 2.

There may be no single way to finance your Copernicus Master in Digital Earth studies. Therefore, check all available funding options and pick the combination that matches your needs. Fellowships might be open worldwide or for nationals of the specified country, be aware, your home country might also offer individual fellowships for studies abroad, contact your national Ministry of Education or a similar organisation or agency for more information.

Taiwanese Ministry of Education (MoE) will be offering national scholarships to Taiwanese master students who are academically admitted to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programmes. You are requested to submit your scholarship application using the following platform: https://www.scholarship.moe.gov.tw/eu

The Programme Board strongly advises securing funding for the full duration of the study programme. Balancing a part-time job alongside the rigorous demands of an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s over two academic years is likely to be very challenging.
