Study Earth Observation, Geoinformatics and advanced Remote Sensing at the Department of Geoinformatics (Z_GIS), PARIS-LODRON UNIVERSITY SALZBURG (PLUS). Z_GIS is recognized as a hub for graduate education in Geoinformatics with a distinct international orientation.
At Z_GIS, students graduate from the highly regarded BSc, MSc or PhD in Applied Geoinformatics programmes. Capacity building and translation of research results into educational outcomes are a key element of Z_GIS’ strategic concept, supporting new insights through research as well as outreach to the GI community with highly qualified graduates.
More than eighty faculty members of the Department coordinate and partner with experts in a great variety of Earth Observation and Geoinformatics research projects. The main focus is on following areas: Object Based Image Analyses (OBIA), Integrated Spatial Indicators (ISI), Spatial Simulation, Geographic Information Infrastructure, interdisciplinary process-oriented modelling at landscape scale in the Landscape Lab, research on the intersection between Geoinformatics and smart mobility in the GI Mobility Lab, and research on the role of spatial realms now including mass user applications in the GIScience lab.
