Master’s Thesis

Students will move to the selected specialization partner for the second academic year. All MSc theses will be co-supervised by academic faculty from at least two different partner universities or mobility partner. Students may move to another mobility partner in the final semester for Master’s Thesis research.

Topics are discussed, defined and agreed with the chosen supervisors. In general, a student should choose a topic that corresponds to his or her individual interests and the intended future career orientation. The topic of the Master’s Thesis should be chosen in such a way that it is reasonable and appropriate for completion of the thesis within six months.

Development of the Master’s Thesis concept is supported by the courses on research methods and academic writing and project management during semester two.

The Master’s Thesis is co-supervised by two faculty members from the consortium, one from PLUS and one from the university representing the chosen specialization track selected by the student. These faculty members supervising the thesis must be qualified according to the regulations of their own institution. If agreed by the Programme Board and conforming with institutional regulations at the degree awarding partner institutions, the Master’s Thesis can be also produced with the support of one or more experts from an associated partner institution of the consortium.

The Master’s Thesis has to be submitted in English language. Due to the double degree character of this programme, a single thesis is submitted in identical form at two partner institutions as a graduation requirement.

The PLUS, Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences’ Examination Office provides guidelines & forms on procedures for completing your Master’s degree.

Notification: You must submit a completed ‘Prüfungspass’ (list of finished courses) according to your (sem 1-4) transcript of studies, prior to this you must submit a signed (approved) specialization track transcript and get it checked by the examination office (Prüfungsreferat).

BEFORE submitting your completed thesis, completion of all class credits needs to be documented.
